FAQ’s

WHAT IS A KICKSTART CALL?

A Kickstart Call is a 30-min virtual meeting via Zoom required for all new students and prospective students.

In the meeting, we’ll discuss your goals, preferences, exercise experience, so our team can work on a customized program and deliver superior coaching.

We'll answer all your questions and help you decide if F5 is a fit for you.

I AM A BEGINNER OR NEW TO WORKING OUT - IS F5 FOR ME?

Yes!

At F5, you get a customized strength and fitness program, just like you would if you hired a personal trainer.

Currently, all training sessions are semi-private due to social distancing guidelines, so you will get plenty of personal attention and the ability to work at your level and pace.

We encourage ALL students to begin training new skills by focusing on the technique rather than intensity first because you are learning skills, not just sweating and burning calories (but you'll get that too)!

WHAT IS THE FORMAT OF A SEMI-PRIVATE STRENGTH TRAINING SESSION?

SEMI-PRIVATE STRENGTH

All members get a customized Strength and Fitness program to follow during training times.

Our Strength sessions are not like classes. Programs are tailored to you and your goals and can be designed by our programming team for up to 6 days a week of workouts.

Semi-private is customized training at a fraction of the cost of personal training.

Also, since semi-private sessions are limited to four members in Strength Training and five members in a Muay Thai session, you'll get a ton of personal attention.

WHAT IS THE FORMAT OF A SEMI-PRIVATE MUAY THAI SESSION?

SEMI-PRIVATE MUAY THAI

All sessions are limited to training in your 6-foot apart socially distanced area.

Students will be given specific strikes, combos, drills, and exercises specific to their individual level and goals.

Warm-Up: Jump rope, stretches, and shadowboxing.

Work: Muay Thai strikes and combos on bags, Muay Thai drills, bodyweight exercises, and conditioning drills.

Cool-down: Stretches & Coach Q&A.

DO YOU OFFER PRIVATE TRAINING?

At this time, personal training is on hold as we perfect our new semi-private training systems.

Give semi-private a try!

HOW MANY DAYS DO YOU RECOMMEND TRAINING TO GET RESULTS?

Our strength and Muay Thai students see progress with as little as eight (8) classes per month.

However, if you have time, go ahead and train more!

If you are participating in both Strength and Muay Thai, we recommend 4-5 training days per week to learn new skills best.

CAN I TRY OUT A TRAINING SESSION BEFORE JOINING?

We do not have any drop-in classes at the moment due to COVID-19 guidelines and the structure of our training sessions.

We are a member's only gym, specializing in semi-private training.

Please book a kickstart meeting to see if F5SXMT is right for you.

I AM VISITING FROM OUT OF TOWN - CAN I TRAIN AT F5?

At this time we only accept member reservations for training appointments due to COVID-19 concerns and state guidelines.

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR/BRING FOR MY FIRST TRAINING SESSION

We'll review all suggestions for attire and gear in your member on-ramp.

Suggested:

  • Water Bottle
  • Comfy Workout Clothes
  • Flat-Soled Shoes for Lifting
  • A positive attitude 🙂

WHAT IF THE TIME I WANT TO ATTEND IS FULL?

You can wait-list a session time online.

You will be contacted via email and/or text, depending on your notification preferences selected, if a spot opens up.

We HIGHLY recommend making sure you are opted-in for text notifications, so you get alerted right away if a spot opens up.

If you need help updating your account notifications, please ask us.

WHERE DO I PARK ?

Valet is temporarily suspended due to COIVD-19.

Please allow time in your commute for parking!!!! We suggest getting to the gym 15 minutes before class start time to be safe. We will unlock the doors 5 minutes before the start of class time.

For a map with tips, see our parking guide.

DO YOU HAVE A SHOWER?

Yes. However, due to our state guidelines post-COVID-19, and our rigorous cleaning protocols after each training session our shower is closed to the public until further notice.

DO YOU SELL GLOVES AND OTHER GEAR?

Yes, we have an in-store and online shop. Due to the strict nature of our COVID-19 compliant classes, to help us safely handle the time needed for disinfecting the gym and equipment after each class, we suggested purchasing your products online and then using in-store pick up.

WHAT IS MUAY THAI?

Muay Thai is the national sport of Thailand. It was developed originally as close contact battle techniques but is now a popular spectator sport in many countries. Muay Thai, called the art of eight limbs because it uses punches, kicks, elbows, and knees to strike is similar to kickboxing but has different origins, and the additional use of elbow and knee strikes to the head and clinch.

Muay Thai is also a great workout!

DO YOU HAVE TO SPAR OR FIGHT TO TRAIN MUAY THAI?

No. Many students learn Muay Thai as a fun way to get fit and learn skills without ever sparring and fighting.

Muay Thai is a sport, and we teach real fighting techniques, but it's also a good workout even in you choose not to spar or fight.

Some students decide to move on to learning defense and sparring and some progress to compete in the sport.

I WANT TO COMPETE IN MUAY THAI - DO YOU TRAIN FIGHTERS?

Please note, currently, due to COVID-19, we cannot allow ANY contact between members unless they are cohabitating.

We are temporarily suspending any "fight" training, however, all champion fighters train the basics of shadow boxing, bag work, and conditioning to progress their skills.

-----

Yes! We have an active fight team and a program in place for you to advance to sparring when you are ready.

If you put in the work at the gym and prove your skills, we will help get you to your goal.

Many of our advanced students have progressed to take the "F5 Team Test," which is a requirement of being on our fight team. After the team test, some students progress to their first Muay Thai fight.
